🇧🇴 Bolivia is preparing to launch a digital currency, the "Virtual Boliviano", aimed at simplifying international payments and preserving the country’s currency reserves.

The head of the Central Bank announced that the project is being developed with the support of international organizations and will be officially presented on August 6, the 200th anniversary of the country’s independence.

Previously, Bolivia had banned the use of banks for purchasing cryptocurrencies, but after lifting the restrictions, the volume of crypto transactions doubled. The country has also begun using stablecoins as a substitute for the US dollar amid a currency shortage.
